NATURAL HAIRED BARBIES

HONEY!!! These barbies are FIERCE! I love them!!

I haven't found them in stores (physical or online) yet but don't fret if your child has a Black Barbie with straight hair...that's ok. Check out the article here for a link to a tutorial where y'all can create the textured hair.

AND A CHILD SHALL LEAD THEM

{Source}

Let's meet Leanna Archer. She is the CEO of Leanna's All Natural Hair Products and guess what??? SHE'S ONLY 15!!! *WORK*

She started her company at the tender age of 9! Using a secret family recipe, baby girl turned this into a profitable business. Her hair products include various oils like Avocado, Almond, Hibiscus and Rosemary, and our fave Shea Butter. I find this all fascinating, but what I like most about her company is she employs young kids to be representatives! Ingenious. It's a win-win. Now they can help contribute to that ever rising college tuition.

So the next time you're looking for products to use on your baby's head, think of Leanna. Let's show this teen entrepreneur love y'all!

WWYD: I HATE MY HAIR

What Would You Do (WWYD) if you came across teenage girls who HATED their hair?

I met 2 young ladies who have expressed how much they hate their hair. I mean they don't even LIKE their own hair. They prefer weave and believe me there's nothing wrong with that, but to the point where you think your hair is ugly?? WHAT???

I am so disturbed. I've always at least LIKED my hair, even if it is a Love/Hate relationship at times, but I've never PREFERRED something that wasn't mine over mine. Maybe it's just a phase I don't remember going through, IDK, but I do know that something must be done. There has to be a bigger issue.

Because they're a part of a local mentoring program, my aunt and I decided to host a session to talk about it. Now, here's where you all come in...how do you think we should address this? How would you go about trying to get someone to realize the beauty of their own hair?

Oh and **SHAMELESS PLUG** if you want to volunteer/help in any way, email me :D

I *HEART* THE KIDS

I am anti children under the age of 16 getting relaxers. I cannot imagine what it would be like to get a relaxer at 6 or 7 years old, since I as a grown woman HATED getting them. I give props to all my mothers and others out there who have not succumb their child to the 'Creamy Crack.'

I came across this little book of natural hair styles for our babies and thought it would be a good idea to pass the word. It gives step-by-step instructions and pictures for how to do the styles and think it would be a good investment for any mother, sister, aunt, cousin, BASICALLY ANYONE with an au naturale kiddie. My sister will be turning 7 soon and I think I'll be giving this book to my stepmom just so she won't fall into the 'Creamy Crack' spell. We've got to teach them to be PROUD of their hair, no matter what texture.

I hope you enjoy the book, maybe you can even use it as bonding time by choosing a style together :)

And as an added bonus, check out
