PRODUCT HEAVEN: ULTA

Now that Trade Secret is closed *TEAR* I've had trouble finding my SexyHair line that I love. That was until I stopped by Ulta! *insert apology* I can't believe I haven't told you guys about this sooner. I've been going here for months now, it's like a more affordable version of Sephora. Not only did I discover the SexyHair line, but I also found Carol's Daughter, Ouidad, Paul Mitchell's Tea Tree series, DevaCurl (that I LOVE), and Ojon. *CHEERS*

And since I'm back on my couponing game, I encourage you to sign up for their mailing list and get coupons in the mail on the regular. They also have samples of certain products that you can try before you buy, and we all know that's a good deal.

They're on Mayfield and SOM, in the Eastgate Plaza, next to Bed, Bath, & Beyond. Check them out there or online, either way I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Happy Shopping!

UNCLE FUNKY'S DAUGHTER

Bonjour! I've been in the market for some new products to try, I'm not going overboard ;) but I want a styling aid, something similar to SheaMoisture's Curl Enhancing Smoothie. I came across Uncle Funky's Daughter. The name was catchy so I figured why not check it out.

I went to their site and I was immediately drawn to their 70s style phrases (anybody who knows me knows I swear I am a 70s baby) and the fact they have their products broken down by hair type, not just conditioners, cleansers, poos, etc... Definitely makes it easier for me to figure out what would work best on my kinks. Their prices are pretty reasonable too *CHEERS* Most of Uncle Funky’s Daughter’s products boast about being Sulfate-, Paraben-, Petroleum-, Silicone- free with no animal testing.

Here are just a few products they have:

Check out their full line here.

I think I'm going to try the Extra Butter. Have you tried Uncle Funky's before? If so, how did you like it? Speak up folks!

MY HEART SKIPPED A BEAT

At first sight I almost literally passed out, woke up, and fainted again. Whoever made my heart leap out of my chest because of this PHOTOSHOPPED pic should be slain, LOLOL. They did do a good job though ;) I will say, if she ever rocked a fab style like this I would be all over it AGAIN. Wishful thinking.... I just had to get this out.

The real deal:

She's fab anyway *iHEART*

READER REQUEST: MY FAB FIVE

{Source}

Welcome back from the weekend!! The weather was absolutely wonderful, I hope you had a chance to enjoy it :)

Anyways, one of my readers asked me what some of my favorite products, styling tools, and/or accessories were. Now...as we all know, I am a PJ, but I haven't LOVED everything I've used. However, there are some things that I consistently stay stocked up on.

Here they are:

SHEA BUTTER ~ where o where o where would I be without Shea Butter??? I use it on my body and my hair. I absolutely love it! And those of you who've seen me around know I always have some on deck in my purse LOLOL

FLOWERS ~ They're great as a hair accessory or as an accessory for your blazer. I'm all about multifunctional pieces.

DENMAN BRUSH ~ My 4b/4c hair would not ever be detangled or even blowdry straight without this thing. I love it!! (even better than the Tangle Teezer)

HONEY ~ I mix it with my conditioner as a DC and my hair feels DIVINE!

SHEAMOISTURE RESTORATIVE CONDITIONER ~ This stuff right here...I'm telling you. I forgot how good it made my hair feel until I co-washed last week. I fell in love all over again - Amazing!

So what say you good people, what are a few of your favorite things?

SPRING STYLE: COILS

Hey Ladies! I'm looking to spruce up my Spring styling so I'm going to try coiling my hair, instead of getting a strawset (my usual). Now I will say, I do like them better on shorter hair, and I consider myself having SMedium length hair, BUT with the amount of shrinkage I have I'm sure I can get away with it. I haven't decided which way to go yet though - comb or fingers.

One thing I am worried about is the time it takes to do them. But I mean hey, if I last after taking 6 hrs do my mini twists, coiling should be a breeze right?? IDK, we'll see.

Anyway, here's a couple of vids I'm using as my inspiration:

Have you coiled your hair before (finger or comb)? What was your experience like? READ how long did it take, lol

Happy Styling!!

HAIR JOURNEY: G. DANIELLE

So I'm not alone on sharing my hair journey, G. Danielle has decided to share her 2012 hair journey with us *CHEERS*

She's a natural fashion blogger from the 'Nati but let's not discriminate LOLOLOL. Definitely check out her website. It's also on my faves list *shameless plug*

Now back to the hair, here's the deets on G. Danielle:

Hair goal for 2012?

I plan to have healthy BSL hair by the end of this year.

What's your hair regimen?

I cowash every two weeks with SheaMoisture Restorative Conditioner. Then, I detangle in the shower with my Jilbere shower comb. Followed by a DC with the SheaMoisture Hair Masque mixed with EVOO. I only Poo when I see flakes, about every 6 weeks or so.

To style, I use Karen's Body Beautiful Sweet Ambrosia (Leave-in conditioner) and SheaMoisture's Hair Milk.

What is your favorite 'Go-To' or Signature Style?

My faves right now are the roller set and bun and small twists. I usually rock the twists for a week before wearing as a twistout.

Go G. Danielle! Thanks for sharing!!

MY MINI TWISTS (PT. DEUX)

OMG!! So my scalp felt like it was on fire when I got back. It felt like I had an allergic reaction to some weave, but I didn't have any weave in...whatever it was I had SOOOOOOOOOOO much buildup and way too many flakes falling out my head. I desperately needed to clean my scalp.

So of course I YT'd a video of how people maintain their minis without taking them out and this is what I found.

HEAVEN!!

I decided to try it out, here's what I did:

I took some baking powder and water and mixed it in a bowl. ORIGINALLY I was going to do my whole head so I put a couple tablespoons in and mixed with water to fill the bowl up about halfway.

I spritzed my hair with water, detangled with my Denman brush for easier parting with my rattail, and brushed the mix directly on my scalp with an old toothbrush.

Then I rubbed it with my fingers.

I decided not to do my whole head so I only did the sections that were giving me the most trouble. I poo'd and DC'd as normal and guess what??? IT WORKED!! My scalp was squeaky clean *CHEERS*

I will definitely keep this in my routine. If you have Kinky Twists, Senegalese Twists, Box Braids, Micros, etc... you should definitely try it out!

BONJOUR!!

{Source}

Once upon a time 7 Naturalites took a trip to Morocco..... Hey guys!!! I'm happy to be back, but I had an amazing time in Morocco. Big ups to my girl Jocey for organizing the entire thing. She's awesome. The weather was PERFECT, the people were incredibly nice, and the food was simply amazing especially in the Berber Village where I had the absolute best Tangine ever!!!

As you all know, my hair was in mini twists. I didn't do too much too my hair because we were hella busy the first few days, I did rinse about Day 3/4 because my scalp was itching terribly, but here's a quick recap (of myself and others):

Fun times had by all!!

I will say I HAVE to find some way to deal with product buildup with these twists. I've already taken them down because of it. My scalp was awful. I don't know if it was the gel or what. Any suggestions??

Oh and beware of TSA I definitely had my hair patted down and they took my shea butter *PISSED*
