MY W&G

Hey guys! I've been talking a lot about W&G and realized I've never shown you how mine looks.  Forgive me :(  Here it is.  This is one I did on Friday.

I started out with my 5 day old twistout.  Here's the products I used.

 

SheaMoisture's Restorative Conditioner (to cowash)

Kinky Curly Knot Today (leave-in)

?? Curl Defining Gel (I bought it from a vendor)

Olive Oil Eco Styler Gel (for my side pin up)

Once I cowashed, I put my hair in 4 section with clips.  I detangled each section with my Knot Today and wide-tooth comb first, then went at it again with my Denman brush for extra definition.

When I finished detangling, I went through my hair adding the Curl Defining Gel with my fingers.  I took those 4 sections and halved them to add the gel.

I slicked one side up, adding a little Eco Styler gel and pinned it with a bobby pin.

 

Voila! The end result.

FAKING THE FUNK

How would you feel if you saw a picture of someone on a Natural Hair website with absolutely gorgeous hair that you used as your muse then found out later it was fake hair?  Would you feel betrayed or feel like it was false advertising?  Well apparently there have been pics surfacing everywhere of this type and folks are not happy about it. 

Interestingly enough, I just had this convo with a lady in the brow salon.  She said that in her Facebook profile she was wearing a half-wig and people were commenting on her picture about how gorgeous her hair was and they looked up to her for inspiration.  She didn't know how to respond to it, so she took down the picture.  Now me, I told her that she should've told them it was a wig and for $19.99 they could have that gorgeous hair too.  *shrug*  Just be real.  I don't think folks will mind and the majority have had weave at some point in our lives...it's not that big of a deal.  It is just hair.

What are your thoughts?  Does it bother you when people are perpetrating on Natural Hair?

Have you come to a point in your hair journey where you're just kinda...well OVER IT?  I think I'm there.  Now don't get me wrong, I LOVE Foxy, but here recently it's getting harder for me to figure out what to do with her.  Maybe it's boredom...or laziness. Either way, I haven't been really inspired (hence the lack of blogging).  I just stand in the mirror, look, twist, pin-up, take down, repeat. My inner PJ is fed, my regimen is solid.  So what gives?

I need something to spice it up.  Maybe I need to put my hair up. Put in some weave or braids or twists - take a break for a month or so ya know?  Any other suggestions?? Have you been here before and what did you do about it?

1001 WAYS TO ROCK HEADWRAPS

Hey All!  I am not having my best hair week :(   I've been saying for months I want to learn how to do a turban or do an intricate and fun headwrap.  And right about now, I wish I had.

I will admit, I was intimidated. They look so difficult.  Plus, I tried to do a wrap about a year ago and it came out just ok. It wasn't like the ones I've seen people rocking in magazines or around the city.  Nothing to blog about for real.  So I put it on the shelf...that was until now.  

Out of necessity I started to look for ways I could learn to rock headwraps and now I'm hooked.  The possibilities are endless AND they're multifunctional - which I love!

Seems easy enough, maybe I'll try this first ;)
